this project is nearly 10 years in the making. i first wrote this song after my sister became engaged. in fact, the original lyric was “in wedding announcements and eulogies”. I spent about 6 months recording and rerecording the music until i got it as close to the way it sounded in my brain when i first penned the lyrics. the animation took me about a month and a half, not counting all that was animated before my set collapsed and i had to start over. this project is quite literally infused with my blood, sweat, and tears, and i’m so fucking proud to finally get to share it.

special thanks to my dad for helping me build this dollhouse last summer, and to the real Dez for helping me adjust the lighting and keeping me company while I sat in the dark and took thousands of slightly different photos.

extra special thanks to Brent, for teaching me to play guitar, and Ellis, for giving me the confidence to perform, as well as @ioannushka (accidentally misspelled in the credits) on Tumblr, for making art to go in the tavern as well as the thumbnail.

follow me on Tumblr @barefoot–and–braless. or don’t. i’m not your dad.

I’d like to blaze this post, because I worked so hard on this music video and I’m so proud of it, but I’m broke as shit and can’t afford to pay to get more people to look at my greatest passion project to date. I animated all of this by myself on a budget of 0$. I’m poor.

Does anyone have it in their heart to help me with an old fashioned blaze?

i have made like 57 reddit throwaway accounts in my life because my only use for reddit is to login once a year to pose niche questions to a sub i assume is compromised of mostly autistic dads desperate to impart their knowledge upon anyone who will listen. when i got my first fisheries job the equipment list my boss sent me just said “knife.” i emailed back asking what kind of knife and he replied “any knife.” i got on reddit and went to some sub about fish and i said “i got a hatchery job in alaska. what knife do i need for multipurpose use. a knife that does it all.” one guy responded in ten minutes breaking down everything about knives & salmon work. gave me a better idea of my job than the interview did. then he recommended a single knife and like twenty other people replied after him “this is the correct knife. no notes.”

bought it. pretty good knife, no notes.

scurvy has got to have one of the biggest disease/treatment coolness gaps of all time. like yeah too much time at sea will afflict you with a curse where your body starts unraveling and old wounds come back to haunt you like vengeful ghosts. unless☝️you eat a lemon

I believe in gentle parenting. Unfortunately many people refuse to parent their child at all under the guise of gentle parenting. Sometimes you’ve got to look your fourth grader in the eye and say “Little dude, that was an asshole move.”
